Links to more information about Jessie
You can do a search on any number of search engines. Such as
Google
and you will find a large number of references. Most are simply web sites from newspapers, TV
stations and so forth, which are simply repeats of news wire services, or other sources. These have
the exact same stories (or at least information). Therefore, I did not include them. If want them, click
on the google link above. Note that many article which appear in the search egines have been either
removed or moved to archives, which you may have to pay for. Even some of the links I have are
subsequently only available in the fee-based archives.
I was thinking of including all of the links which pointed to other information about sharks and shark
attacks. However, there are just so many and there are reachable from many of the links I have. Therefore,
I decided not to include any of these.
I was really amazed at how much attention this has gotten. However, as I discuss in my article
Why Jessie?, so much of it is part of the media frenzy. As a result of this
frenzy almost everyone of these stories has links to other pages about shark attacks, sharks in general
and so forth. This has even resulted in people (in my opinion) being jealous of the attention that Jessie
has receive, which result in a bogus email
saying Jessie's uncle was shark fishing, which directly caused the attack.
Here is a great article in Popular Mechanics that goes into the
details of the surgery to save Jessie's life and limbs.

Bogus Email About Jessie's Rescue
Shortly after the attack on Jessie, an email was circulated making some wild
and damaging claims, basically saying Jessie's uncle had been shark fishing
and that is why the shark was there in the first place. Fortunately, all of these
claims have been deflated by a great rebuttal.
A really wonderful
editorial
on this was also written by Laura Pulfer of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
